Welcome Back!

Posted Date: 8/06/25 (7:57 PM)

LES Parents:

We are so excited to welcome your kids back into the building on Thursday, August 7th! Unlike the Primary School we are NOT staggered start, so we expect to see everyone bright and early on Thursday morning! Below are a few reminders:

  • Parents, you will need to kiss your child goodbye at our front door and let us take it from there! We will have plenty of people on hand to make sure everyone gets to where they need to be! We appreciate your cooperation!

  • If your child will be eating breakfast, they will go directly to the cafeteria for breakfast. If they eat before they arrive, they can go directly to their grade level hallway to sit with their class. All students are provided their first breakfast and first lunch each day for free as part of our Community Eligibility Program. Additional meals can be purchased if needed. Additionally, students will participate in our dinner program from 2:55-3:10 daily where they will be provided a snack before heading home.

  • Before and after school care begins on Thursday. For registered students, morning care opens at 6:30 and drop off is in the back of gym. Pick up from afterschool care is in the same location. If you are interested and have not registered, please fill out the application on msbactivities.com

  • Please remember that our school day is from 7:50 AM to 3:10 PM each day. We will begin dismissing buses at 3:10 and carline will begin at 3:20. Students who are not in their classroom at 7:50 AM are considered tardy and will need to be signed in by a parent or guardian. Please make arrangements to check out your child no later than 2:50 if you need an early checkout.

  • A note about carline:

    • Our carline runs in front of our building. We ask that you pull all the way down before loading or unloading your kids. You will not be able to stop on this road until Dr. Haley walks out the front door to begin carline.

    • For morning carline, all children will exit the vehicle and come in the front door. For afternoon carline, we have vehicles coming from Ashville Road and both directions of 78. Please understand that it will take a few days for our newest friends to learn the routine, but we have an efficient process once everyone knows what to do! Please do not block the intersection as this only complicates and slows down our carline. Those of you turning right off of 78 to pass in front of the school, please allow the cars coming from the other direction of 78 to turn left on their green arrow as they have the right of way during this time.

    • The “circle” in front of our school is for buses and approved vehicles ONLY. If you enter this area during carline to pick up your child, we will ask you to exit and circle back around.

    • It is VERY IMPORTANT that you have a hangtag with your child’s name neatly printed on it. The person on the corner will use this to call your child’s name. All new students and second grade students are provided these. If you need additional tags, you can purchase one for $5 on MySchool Bucks.

  • If you have not yet registered for Circool, please do so as soon as possible. This will streamline any future visits to the school as this is a required protocol.

  • You should have received the new digital device policy in your child’s classroom this evening. Please note that students may not carry a digital device on them during the school day. This includes smartwatches. Any device they bring to school must be stored off and in their backpack.

  • Our attendance policy has changed slightly this school year. This year, you have up to 8 parent excuses that you can use during the school year. Please make sure that you turn in your excuses within 3 days of the absence. More information on the attendance policy was also provided this evening.

  • ParentSquare will be our primary mode of communication this year. Please make sure you download the app and turn on your notifications to receive timely information!

We are so excited to welcome all of our LES friends (including our new second grade friends) into the building! See you soon!
